About the Department

The Nursing Department offers a comprehensive two-year (four-semester)Diploma Degree Program in Nursing is designed to give students a thorough foundation in nursing knowledge and clinical practice. The program equips students with the essential skills, ethical principles, and critical thinking abilities required to provide safe, compassionate, and effective patient care across various healthcare settings

Throughout the four semesters, students progress from fundamental nursing concepts to advanced, specialized areas.

  • In the first year, students have opportunities to learn about some of the fundamental sciences (such as aspects of Fundamental Nursing, Biochemistry, Human Anatomy, Medical Microbiology, and Histopathology) that are necessary for an understanding of Nursing Sciences and nursing Practice.
  • In the second year, students follow that, the Nursing Sciences (Adult Nursing, Critical Care, Pediatric, and Maternity) are introduced and taught in an integrated manner, and students' understanding of these disciplines and their application to Nursing develops.
  • Nursing graduates should be equipped with the knowledge, clinical skills, and professional attitudes necessary to provide safe, effective, and patient-centered care. They should be capable of critical thinking, effective communication, ethical decision-making, and functioning as integral members of the healthcare team.
  • This balanced, nurturing Nursing Practice is interwoven throughout the curriculum and is intended to contextualize, expand on, and apply the information and abilities invariably acquired in the scientific modules.

Program Learning Outcomes

By the end of this two-year Nursing program, students will be able to:

1. Apply foundational knowledge of nursing, biological, behavioral, and social sciences in providing holistic patient care. 

2. Demonstrate competency in clinical skills required for safe, effective, and evidence-based nursing practice. 

3. Communicate effectively with patients, families, and members of the healthcare team using verbal, non-verbal, and written communication. 

4. Practice ethically and professionally, adhering to legal standards and the nursing code of conduct. 

5. Utilize critical thinking and problem-solving skills in assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care. 

6. Promote health and provide preventive care across the lifespan in a variety of healthcare settings. 

7. Collaborate within interdisciplinary teams to deliver patient-centered care and improve health outcomes. 

8. Demonstrate responsibility for ongoing personal and professional development, including the ability to adapt to changing healthcare environments and technologies.
